Vandenberg Pen Pals - Tea Time!

Please mark your calendar for Tuesday, May 7th, 2013, for the “Pen Pal Tea” at Vandenberg World Cultures Academy.

The fun begins at 10:00 am in the school library and will conclude by 11:00 am. Pen pals will meet, have a chance to visit and enjoy light refreshments. This year the St. David volunteers will donate a book to the fourth grade class who participated with us.

Kindly, do not bring a gift for your pen pal, per request from school principal, Teri John. This will be a wonderful celebration of our collaboration with friends at our neighborhood school! Hope to see you there.

Please contact Judy Walsh ( if you are unable to attend.

South Oakland Shelter (SOS) Ministry

The South Oakland Shelter, usually called S.0.S, began in 1985 when seven ministers saw the need to help with homeless Issues. They came up with a plan for warming shelters with each church sponsoring one day a week. This evolved into our present plan of hosting for a whole week at a time. As more parishes volunteered both for hosting and working together, the year was covered. Now it has grown where there is more help and attention to individuals and other new programs to benefit their clients.

2013_04 SOS: We Need Your Help

SOS………..We need your help!

St. David’s will be hosting the South Oakland Shelter for a week beginning Sunday, April 21, 2013. We will house about 30 guests, providing them not only a bed but also three meals a day, and morning and evening transportation. This wonderful outreach needs many helpers. We cannot do this without your help!

There are sign-up sheets in the church lobby. We are particularly in need of drivers, for mornings and evenings, as well as overnight hosts. Please consider lending a hand for this great program.

Sisters of Bethany Mothers Tea

On May 4, 2013, the Sisters of Bethany Chapter of the Order of the Daughters of the King will be hosting our Biannual English High Tea in the Corner Fellowship Hall.  All Ladies of St. David’s are invited to attend.  We will once again have a three course high tea – from soup to nuts.

As a special treat our own former organist and choirmaster, Devon Hanson, will lead us in a group sing-a-long with musical selections from older and newer Broadway hits.  Come and join with us for a fun filled time.

The hours are from 12:00 – 2:00 pm.  In order to prepare adequately, we ask that you RSVP your acceptance to 248-298-6376.  Please leave a message.  We are busy planning for you.
