This month we have a very pleasant visual, thanks to the Haiti Outreach travelers to Haiti, of young girls wearing our dresses!  (Well, really, a father receiving a dress for his daughter.) This project has been so successful, that we intend to continue it next year!

Our ongoing relationship with St. Anne’s Mead was further enhanced this month with an invitation to their open house – Winter Wonderland Dessert Party on February 20, 2013. Residents and guests were treated to three differ Dessert Stations:

1. South Lounge – where there was a chocolate fountain with a variety of sides for dipping!

2. North Lounge – where there were Crème Brule, Baked Alaska, Chocolate Mousse, and Strawberry Soufflé.  Also we were treated to punch and piano music by Charlie Gehringer.  This turned into a song fest of “Oldies but Goodies” with residents and guest singing along!  Fabulous!

3. ECU – With Coffee and a variety of Petite Bites.  There we were treated to Harp Music by Cheryl Sukenic.

Additionally, for sale were pendent/broaches, picture frames and note paper made by the residents.  I personally purchased a beautiful gold button enhanced picture frame and a one-of-a-kind filigreed silver and turquoise broach – just beautiful!

On Sunday, February 24th, after the Forum, we again visited the Mead to help make lap blankets for the residents.  Since our partnership, we have had at least two different opportunities, each month, to inter-react with the resident at the Mead.  This has proved to be one of our most enjoyable service projects.

If you know of anyone in need of a food basket, please have them see Sister Veronica in the Church Office.  The Sisters of Bethany keep Sister Veronica supplied with a basket of non-perishables which is designed to feed a family of four for four days.  This has been an ongoing project for the past seven years!  If you know of anyone who could use such a basket, please see Sister Veronica or any Daughter.  The food is there for the asking.

Respectfully submitted, FHS,

Carolyn Holliday-Mcclintock, President
