The essence of Lent Madness allows people to get to know some amazing saints and people who have come before us in the faith and reminding one another that there’s no reason for a dreary Lenten discipline. If this helps people connect with the risen Christ during this season of penitence and renewal, and have a bit of fun in the process, then it continues to be worthwhile.

Counting the Days in Advent - The Advent Calendar

The Advent Calendar that we know today had its beginnings in the early 19th century when keeping count of the days until Christmas was done by marking the days on a door with chalk and then wiping off each passing day.

The History of Tithing

Tithing had its beginning in the Bible in the Old Testament and was included in Mosaic Law (Numbers 18:21) for the purpose of providing for the Levites, whom God chose to maintain the worship places and perform priestly duties. This way of supporting worship places was also practiced by other pre-Christian societies. It was said by scholars that the figure of one tenth was used because calculations were often done on fingers.
